Find the balance in your life on a stand-up paddle board for a morning of exploring either Siletz Bay Wildlife Refuge loop (if the tide allows) or Devil's Lake Recreation Area... both sheltered from the rougher ocean winds.  The Club and our outfitter will provide paddle boards and experienced supervision.  AESC will provide transportation.  Meet at the family breakfast before we head out for our adventure.
$40 per participant

Depoe Bay Whale Watching
Members and families

Depart the hotel at 1:30 p.m.
Excursion from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m.

Join us on one of Dockside Charters' 50-foot boats for a whale watching experience you won't soon forget.  In mid-May, the "resident" whales begin to arrive.  It's a group of roughly 20 whales that, though they do migrate, they don't go all the way to the Bering Sea but rather feed during the summer season within just a few miles of Depoe Bay.  The same whales return year after year and can be identified by their individual markings.  Pacific Gray Whales have the longest migration of any animal on earth.  Humpback and Blue whales also are seen occasionally off the Oregon coast though not as frequently as Gray Whales.

Members will need to drive themselves to the dock, which is only about a 10-minute drive from the hotel.

$30 per person over age 12; $15 for everybody 12 and under, even toddlers.

Axe Throwing (really!)

5:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Ignoring our better judgment about putting sharp objects in the hands of Club members, come on down to the Salishan grounds for some wholesome axe throwing.  There's no registration or fee required, just come and have some fun.

The axe throwing lane is actually in a cage so "accidents" are not likely!!!  Members and families are invited.

Saturday, August 6

AESC Golf Outing
The Salishan Links

Shotgun start at 8:00 a.m.

At Salishan Golf Links, golf means so much more than 18 holes. It’s an experience to be savored and remembered. With old-growth timber or seaside bluffs at every turn, each hole provides a spectacular backdrop and a unique challenge. The golf course restoration in 2004, overseen by Oregon golf legend and PGA Tour Pro Peter Jacobsen and his design firm, Jacobsen-Hardy Golf Design, preserves the layout and the spirit of Salishan’s fabled links while enhancing playability and opening the golf course to captivating ocean views.  Club rentals are available... please contact Kathy Paul if you want to reserve a set.
$120 per player, includes cart

"Not Golf" -- Croquet Anyone?

9:30 a.m.

For those who are not golfers, consider spending Saturday morning on the croquet court... members and families alike.  There's no fee or pre-registration... just come and have fun.

Other Independent Things To Do in the Area

Here are a few additional options if you're looking for something to do in the area around the Salishan Resort.  The Club will not be organizing excursions to any of these locations... but feel free to buddy up with other Club members if you wish and enjoy!
