Remembering Jackie Acers

We are saddened to mark the passing of Jacqueline Acers on March 3, 2016, at the age of 85.  Jackie is the widow of longtime AESC member Tom Acres.  They are survived by seven children, including Club member Ann Acers Warn.  Jackie and Tom were always a source of delight at AESC meetings since Tom's induction as a member in 1971.  He last attended an annual meeting in 2005.

The Acers family released the following obituary remembering Jackie:

ACERS Jacqueline Jean Acers was born June 23, 1930, the fifth child of Ellis and Rena Bresson. She died on March 3, 2016 at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Thomas E. Acers, and is survived by seven children brought together by their marriage in 1978. They are: Susan and husband Jim Stewart, Alison and husband Jim Jetton, Dan and wife Lisa Pape, Tim and wife M'Lynn Pape, Angie and husband Steve Crisp, Ann and husband Brett Warn, and Ashley Geisel, seventeen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.  Jackie graduated from Kalamazoo High School, attended Butler University and was a big fan of the Butler Bull Dogs. She loved golf, painting, displaying her OU flag on game days and spending time with her family.  Some of her greatest pleasures came through her many friends which included her wonderful neighbors, so many affiliated with the Dean McGee Eye Institute, and her Tri Delta sisters.  She found so much joy and comfort in the Lord and her church family. Although small in stature she "loved big" and will be dearly missed.  There will be a private, family burial ceremony followed by a memorial celebration at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Acers Society Educational Fund, c/o The Dean A. McGee Eye Institute, 608 S.L. Young Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK 73102 or a charity of your choice.
